Installation & Mounting Policy

Purpose. To explain how we mount dispensers onsite and what venues should expect.

Mounting options

  • Primary method (recommended): 1–2 screws per unit for long-term durability and load security.

  • Adhesive option (on request or where drilling isn’t suitable): High-bond industrial tape. Suitable for smooth, clean surfaces; lower load rating and reduced longevity compared with screws, particularly in humid or high-traffic areas.

Wall types we install on

We can install on plasterboard, ceramic/porcelain tile, concrete, and brick. Where substrate condition is unknown or poor (e.g., crumbling plaster, hollow/loose tiles), we may recommend adhesive-only or an alternative location.

If you don’t want holes drilled

Where a customer does not consent to drilling (e.g., heritage finishes, newly renovated surfaces), we will install using adhesive where feasible.
Important note: If a pilot hole has already been made during positioning and you withdraw consent to fix with a screw at that location, we will remove the screw and leave the hole unfilled at your request so you can engage your preferred tradesperson to make good to your standard. We’ll mark the location for your reference. (This avoids an ad-hoc patch that may not match your finish.)

We’ll always seek clear approval before drilling. If you prefer adhesive-only, please confirm before the visit or at the start of the appointment.

Situations where adhesive-only is used

  • Heritage/protected tiles or wall finishes

  • New or premium renovations where visible fixings are not permitted

  • Areas where site rules prohibit drilling (e.g., certain tenancies)

Make-good (who does what)

  • illiminate: We take reasonable care during installation. If we relocate a unit during the same visit, we will cap/plug any newly created fixing holes where appropriate or agreed.

  • Venue: Responsibility for decorative repair (patching, colour-matching, repainting, tile/grout rectification) and any existing damage remains with the venue/owner. Where drilling is declined after a pilot hole is made, the venue will arrange make-good as preferred.

Access & site readiness

  • Installations occur during standard business hours. Please ensure a clear area around the cistern and an onsite contact.

  • We do not require keys/escorts in most cases. If your site has special access/inductions, please notify us at booking.

Compatibility & limitations

  • We rely on visual inspection and standard stud/pipe detection. Without accurate as-built drawings, we cannot guarantee the absence of concealed services.

  • We may refuse to drill where we reasonably believe damage could occur (e.g., cracked tiles, fragile cladding).

Cistern tubing connection

Our preferred method is to route the dosing tube under the cistern lid and close the lid so the toilet operates normally.

  • Standard approach: Tube passes under the lid with no cutting. We position the tube to avoid interfering with buttons/actuators and to prevent kinks.

  • When a lid won’t sit flat: Some cisterns have tight tolerances and cannot close fully with a tube in place. In these cases we may recommend a small relief notch so the tube can pass freely without stressing the lid or mechanism.

Relief notch (only with approval)

  • Location: Usually at a rear corner or side edge of the lid or cistern rim, away from buttons and sightlines.

  • Size & finish: Approx. 3–6 mm semicircle or slot—just enough for the tube; edges are smoothed/deburred.

  • Material considerations: Porcelain/ceramic can chip if mishandled. We’ll assess feasibility onsite and may decline cutting where chipping risk is high; alternatives will be proposed.

  • Approval first: We will seek explicit approval before any cutting. If approval is not granted, we will implement an adhesive or internal-routing alternative where practical, noting performance or service-access trade-offs.

Alternatives if no cutting is approved

  • Internal clip/guide to route within the cistern where design allows.

  • Adhesive-only routing along the exterior to an entry point, ensuring the tube does not foul moving parts.

  • Bracketed entry using a grommet or edge protector if an existing service opening is available.

Make-good (cistern modifications)

  • Where a relief notch is approved and created, decorative restoration (e.g., glazing/colour matching) is not included. If a notch is declined after marking, no cut will be made.
